Rain has played spoilsport in the blockbuster India vs Pakistan clash of Asia Cup yet again. The high-voltage match of the Super Four stage, has been stopped due to torrential rain at Colombo’s R Premadasa Stadium.
Skipper Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, were off to a flyer, as India crossed 100 in the 14th over itself. However, Shaheen Shaf Afridi and Shadab Khan claimed a wicket apiece to bring the Pakistanis back into the game.
Just wen India had started to rebuild their innings, and were sitting at 147/2 in 24.1 overs, the heaven’s opened up.
Virat Kohli and KL Rahul were at the crease when the rain forced the players off the field.
In an earlier group stage encounter, India scored 266, but the match was abandoned due to rain.
Unlike that game, a reserve day has been scheduled for the Super Four clash by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).
If the match does not resume tofay, it will continue on Monday from the point where it left off, with India at 147/2 in 24.1 overs, with Virat Kohli and KL Rahul still at the crease.
The weather has been a big talking point through the Sri Lanka leg of the tournament. Rain is expected to create nuisance throughout the tournament.
