Asian Games 2022: Teams begin to head to Hangzhou ahead of the games

Ahead of the Asian games in Hangzhou, China, the teams have started to arrive for the Games, On September 18, the Asian Games bound Indian Ju-Jitsu and Women’s Football team left for the games village. The Indian contingent were given a heartfelt and enthusiastic send-off at Delhi airport as they made their way for the 19th Asian Games.

Meanwhile, on September 17, India’s star football striker Sunil Chhetri along with defender Sandesh Jhingan left to participate at the Asian Games. Earlier, on September 13, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) on announced a revised 17-member squad, scheduled to represent India in Hangzhou, from September 23 to October 8.

The Indian women’s cricket team has already reached Hangzhou.

Teams from other countries have also started to make footfalls in the village games. Men’s volleyball athletes started arriving at Linping Sports Centre to prepare for the Asian Games on September 18.

Meanwhile, the Republic of Korea is set to send its largest-ever Asian Games delegation consisting of 867 athletes, with the goal of finishing in third place on the medal table by winning at least 45 gold medals. On the other hand, According to Haitham Abdul Hamid, Secretary-General of Iraq’s Olympic Committee, Iraqi delegation aims to make history by winning a record number of medals at the upcoming Asian Games.
