Ben Stokes | Jason Roy | England vs New Zealand

England’s Ben Stokes made history by achieving the highest individual One-Day International (ODI) score for England in the third ODI against New Zealand at the Kennington Oval in London on Wednesday.

The swashbuckling all-rounder smashed an incredible 182 runs from just 124 deliveries, surpassing Jason Roy’s prior record of 180, set in men’s cricket in 2018, and Charlotte Edwards’ 173 against Ireland in women’s cricket.

During his explosive innings, the 32-year-old southpaw launched nine sixes and hammered 15 fours, accumulating a total of 24 boundaries and propelling England past the 350-run mark with more than five overs to spare. Notably, Stokes also reached the milestone of 3000 ODI runs and secured his fourth ODI century.

Unfortunately, Stokes was dismissed in the 45th over while attempting to clear the mid-wicket boundary off Ben Lister’s bowling. Following his departure, England’s innings quickly crumbled, and they were bowled out for a total of 368 runs in 48.1 overs.

However, the England bowlers ripped through the New Zealand batting line-up, as the Kiwis were bundled for just 187 in 39 overs.

England won the match by 181 runs and now lead the 4-match ODI series by 2-1.
