In a major respite from heat, Delhi-NCR witnessed pleasant weather today, with light rain and brisk winds in the morning. The Indian Metrological Department has forecasted light to moderate rain till Saturday.
According to an official from the Indian Meteorological Department, due to the clouds coming from North-West Uttar Pradesh until around 09:30 AM this morning, Delhi-NCR is likely to experience strong winds at speeds of 50 to 70 kilometres per hour, accompanied by intermittent heavy rainfall. Active monsoon conditions are expected in Eastern India today and tomorrow, as well as in Central India until Monday. Western India is likely to receive rainfall until September 18, with moderate to widespread showers and possible thunderstorms in the coastal regions of Konkan, Goa, and Maharashtra. Gujarat may see rainfall from September 16 to 18, while Saurashtra could experience rain on September 17 and 18. Some places in South-West Uttar Pradesh may receive rain until September 15, and Eastern Rajasthan until September 17.
Additionally, there is a chance of heavy rainfall in parts of Telangana today. Senior scientist R.K. Jenamani has stated that moderate to heavy rain in Uttarakhand is likely until September 16.
According to Skymet Weather, the area with low pressure over the North-West and adjoining West Bengal’s coastal regions has shifted. Over the next two days, it is expected to extend over Odisha and Chhattisgarh. In the next 24 hours, moderate to heavy rainfall is expected in Chhattisgarh and Eastern Madhya Pradesh.
