Department of Sports focuses on cleanliness and efficiency in Special Campaigns 2.0 and 3.0

In an effort to promote cleanliness and efficiency within its various departments and affiliated organizations, the Department of Sports recently concluded its Special Campaign 2.0 and is gearing up for Special Campaign 3.0. These campaigns have been instrumental in streamlining operations and reducing pendency across the board.

Special Campaign 2.0:

Special Campaign 2.0, which took place from October 2, 2022, to October 31, 2022, was a resounding success. The Department of Sports identified 133 sites across India for the campaign, including main secretariats, Sports Authority of India (SAI) and its field offices, LNIPE Gwalior, National Sports University (NSU) Manipur, National Dope Testing Laboratory (NDTL), and National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA). During this campaign, the focus was on achieving a 100% disposal rate for State Government references, Prime Minister’s Office Program & General (PMO PG) cases, and PG cases.

Even after the formal closure of Special Campaign 2.0, the Department continued its efforts from December 2022 to August 2023, conducting approximately 125 cleanliness campaigns. This initiative resulted in the freeing up of around 58,678 square feet of space and generated revenue of Rs. 14,755 through the disposal of scrap materials. Additionally, 510 PG cases, 231 VIP references, and 43 State Government references were disposed of, and 950 files were weeded out during this period.

Special Campaign 3.0:

Building on the success of Special Campaign 2.0, the Department of Sports and its affiliated organizations, including SAI, NSU, LNIPE, NADA, and NDTL, are set to participate in Special Campaign 3.0, scheduled to run from October 2, 2023, to October 31, 2023. This campaign aims to institutionalize cleanliness (Swachhata) and further minimize pendency. Notably, Special Campaign 3.0 will place special emphasis on field and outstation offices, recognizing their pivotal role in service delivery and public interface.

Two-Phase Approach:

Special Campaign 2.0 was executed in two phases. In Phase 1, ministries and departments sensitized officers, mobilized ground functionaries, identified pending matters, finalized campaign sites, and prepared for scrap and material disposal. The campaign’s focus extended beyond central offices to encompass field and outstation offices, particularly those with public interface responsibilities.

Phase 2 concentrated on the actual disposal of identified references and pendency from October 2, 2022, to October 31, 2022, with progress reported on the SCPDM portal.
