DMRC introduces ‘Tourist Smart Cards’ with aim to aid tourists during G20 Summit

Ahead G20 Summit, scheduled to be held in New Delhi beginning September 9, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has started selling ‘Tourist Smart Cards’ from its selected Metro stations through dedicated counters from today. The initiative is aimed at promoting tourism during the Summit and aid the tourists.

These Smart Cards which will be sold till September 13, and has been launched to facilitate G20 delegates and international visitors who might be interested in exploring the prominent tourist places of the capital city as they arrive in Delhi.

The cards will be sold through dedicated counters at 36 stations including Kashmere Gate, Chandni Chowk, Chawri Bazar, New Delhi, Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat, Udyog Bhawan, Lok Kalyan Marg, ITO and Supreme Court metro stations.

The ‘Tourist Smart Cards’ will be available in two categories – of one day validity and three day validity cards. Not only this, these tourist smart cards will offer passengers unlimited rides in the metro network.

The one day validity cards will be available for Rs 200. Similarly, a card with a validity of three days will be available for Rs 500. This amount includes Rs 50 as refundable security deposit.

Apart from unlimited rides, these tourist smart cards will aid the tourists in travelling seamlessly across the metro network. They would be able to access any train starting from the first train available for the day to the last train service. Not only this, the passengers will also not have to pay any penalty or surcharge on the Tourist Smart Card for entry or exit mismatch, overstaying in the system and overstepping etc.

Delegates from 40 countries, including 20 member states are visiting India to participate in the G20 Summit, scheduled to take place in Delhi beginning September 9.
