G20 India: Delhi Metro to run from 4am from 8 to 10 September 

 

Delhi Metro has made special arrangements in view of the G20 summit. In view of the G20 Summit being held under India’s Presidency, services on all lines of the Metro network starts at 4.00 am from terminal stations on September 8, 9 and 10. Metro train service will be available every half hour till 6:00 pm on all lines. After this, metro trains will run normally.

The Commissioner of Police (CP) Sanjay Arora had written to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) Managing Director Vikas Kumar requesting him if the Metro Services on September 8, 9 and 10 could begin from 4:00 am in view of restrictions in the G20 Summit venue affected areas, as this will enable hassle-free travel of Police and other support staff.

Entry-exit has been banned at Supreme Court Metro station to keep a check on the traffic. The restrictions are in place to ensure full security of the G20 delegates visiting India to participate in the Summit. 

Delhi metro stations and services shall remain open for the people during the Summit. However, entry and exit at certain stations have been closed or restricted. Entry and exit will remain closed only at the Supreme Court Metro station.

In the letter, DCP Metro G. Ram Gopal Naik mentioned that in 39 stations action needs to be taken while Supreme Court, Janpath, Bhikaji Cama Place, Khan Market and Dhaula Kuan have been marked as ‘Sensitive’ stations. As per the letter, all gates of Delhi Metro will remained closed from September 8 to 10. 

Similarly, gates 1, 2 and 3 of Khan market have been asked to be closed, meanwhile, gate number 4 will remain open for entry and exit. Janpath metro station has been marked sensitive and only gate number 2 will be operational during the Summit. 

Barakhamba that has total 6 operational gates, has been advised to have only gate no 2 operational, and remaining to be closed. Gates at Bhikaji Cama Place has also been asked to be completely closed. 

However, metro stations like IGI Airport, Aero city, South Campus, Moolchand, Chandni Chowk, Chawri Bazar, Kalkaji Mandir, Chirag Delhi, Panchsheel Park and more will remain completely operational as per the letter. 

Apart from this, entry and exit will be closed for VVIP movement for a short time on September 9 and 10 at New Delhi Metro stations on the instructions of security agencies.

Parking facility at metro station

Parking facility will be available at all metro stations. Parking facilities at only three metro stations, Supreme Court, Patel Chowk and Ramakrishna Marg, will remain closed from 4:00 am on September 8 to 12 noon on September 11.
