PM Modi holds talks with Japan’s Kishida on G20 sidelines

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida held bilateral talks on the sidelines of the G20 summit to strengthen bilateral ties on Saturday (September 09).

The two countries have been mulling over deals on green hydrogen-linked carbon credits.

PM Modi welcomed the G20 leaders at the venue as he addressed the plenary session calling for global consensus on reducing the trust deficit between the countries at the time of war.

Chinese President Xi Jinping is skipping the meeting and sending Premier Li Qiang instead, while Russia’s Vladimir Putin will also be absent. U.S. President Joe Biden, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Saudi Arabia’s Mohammed Bin Salman and Kishida, among others, are attending the summit.
