Bangladesh Air Force was formed on 28 September 1971 at Dimapur, India under the command of Air Vice Marshal ( then Group Captain) AK Khandekar, with the flying code unit codenamed “Kilo Flight”. The unit was commanded by late AVM( then Sqn Ldr) Sultan Mahmud. The unit comprised 09 pilots and 58 technicians, according to a press note released by the High Commission of India to Bangladesh.
The visit is a part of the ongoing cooperation between the Indian and Bangladesh Air Force and aims to assist BAF personnel in connecting with their roots. It will further enhance the defense cooperation between India and Bangladesh.
The delegation was seen off by Air Vice Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan of Bangladesh Air Force from BAF Base Bangabandhu, Dhaka.
