Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, officially inaugurated the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd (IREDA) pavilion on October 5, 2023, during the AtoZero (Accelerate to Net Zero) ASEAN Summit. This noteworthy event, spanning from October 4th to 6th, 2023, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, has convened a diverse gathering of experts, industry leaders, and stakeholders hailing from across the region. Their collective mission is to engage in thoughtful discussions on pivotal aspects of green energy and sustainability.

IREDA, represented by its Chairman and Managing Director, Pradip Kumar Das, and senior officials, was honored to have the Deputy Prime Minister’s support and participation in this event. Das highlighted IREDA’s pivotal role and achievements in promoting renewable energy solutions in alignment with the Government of India’s ambitious targets and vision for a sustainable future.

Speaking on the occasion, Das stated, “We are delighted to have the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia inaugurate our pavilion. This event provides a platform to share our expertise, establish partnerships, and contribute to global efforts for a greener, sustainable future.”

The IREDA pavilion serves as a testament to the company’s accomplishments, expertise, and contributions to the renewable energy sector. It acts as a hub for international collaboration and a showcase of India’s progress in renewable energy development. The pavilion offers a unique opportunity for delegates, industry experts, and stakeholders to engage in discussions, explore collaborations, and gain insights into the future of renewable energy.

During the AtoZero ASEAN Summit, Shri Pradip Kumar Das participated in two panel discussions: “Green Energy Financing – Addressing the Fragmentations and Bridging the Gap in ASEAN” and “Towards Hydrogen Economy: Policy Support, Value Chain Development, and Innovations Around Blue and Green Hydrogen.”

Das highlighted the challenges faced by financiers and industry players in the evolving green financing landscape. He emphasized that the green financing landscape is dynamic, presenting various challenges that require innovative solutions. These challenges span traditional and emerging sectors as countries pursue their renewable energy goals. Mr. Das stressed the need for interventions in both the demand and supply aspects to create a robust Green Hydrogen ecosystem. He also advocated for investments in Research, Development, and Innovation to reduce the cost of Green Hydrogen production and the establishment of Hydrogen hubs to leverage economies of scale.

In a significant development, IREDA is anticipating its Initial Public Offering (IPO), which will enhance the company’s capital base to meet future capital requirements and support lending initiatives.

IREDA’s presence at the AtoZero ASEAN Summit underscores India’s commitment to renewable energy solutions and its dedication to fostering global partnerships. The event serves as a crucial platform for sharing knowledge, forging collaborations, and advancing the renewable energy sector’s growth.
