Minister of External Affairs, Dr. S Jaishankar who is on an official visit to Vietnam, on October 16, co-chaired the 18th India-Vietnam Joint Commission meeting in Hanoi along with his Vietnamese counterpart Bui Thanh Son.
Their discussions covered cooperation in political, defence and maritime security, judicial, trade and investment, energy, development, education and training, science and technology, and cultural domains. Following the successful conduct of a productive meeting, EAM Dr. Jaishankar informed that the leaders shared perspectives on the Indo-Pacific region, their commitment to global issues and our collaboration in various multilateral groupings.

Sharing on social media X, the EAM said, “Convinced that our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership will only further strengthen over the coming years.”
In addition to co-charing the meeting, the EAM along with his Vietnamese counterpart jointly unveiled the commemorative stamps celebrating 50 years of establishment of diplomatic ties between India and Vietnam.

The stamps depicting Kalaripayattu and Vovinam captures our shared affinity for sports and celebrates the strong cultural, social and people-to-people links between India and Vietnam, said the EAM on social media platform X.
Earlier on October 15, the EAM met Thich Thanh Nhieu of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha at Phat Tich, unveiled the bust of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore at the International Friendship Park in Bac Ninh province, and interacted with the members of the Indian community in Bac Ninh province.
Following the visit to Vietnam, EAM Dr. S Jaishankar will fly to Singapore on an official visit from October 19-20.
