Tragic plane crash claims 12 lives in Brazil’s Acre state, investigation underway

A plane crash in Brazil’s Acre state has claimed the lives of 12 individuals, including an infant. The incident occurred in the northwestern region of Acre, near Rio Branco airport. The aircraft involved was identified as a single-engine Cessna Caravan.

Tragically, all ten passengers, comprising nine adults and an infant, along with the pilot and co-pilot, lost their lives in the crash. Many of the passengers were returning to the neighboring Amazonas state after receiving medical treatment.

Authorities have initiated an investigation into the crash, but the nationalities of the passengers still remain unknown.

The ill-fated plane, operated by the local company ART Taxi Aereo, was en route to the town of Envira in the neighboring Amazonas state.

The impact of the crash ignited a devastating forest fire in a remote area near Brazil’s borders with Peru and Bolivia, as reported.

This marks the second such aviation tragedy within two months, following a crash in Amazonas state in September that resulted in the loss of 14 lives.
