University Grants Commission (UGC) chairman, Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar has decided to revise the amount of junior research fellowships (JRF) and senior research fellowships (SRF) for science, humanities and social sciences with effect from January 1, 2023. This will benefit around 31,000 students. UGC stated that the revised rates of fellowship will only apply to existing beneficiaries. The official notice in this regard can be read at ugc.gov.in.
As per the revised rates, the existing per-month fellowship amount for JRF and SRF have increased from Rs 31,000 and Rs 35,000 to Rs 37,000 and Rs 42,000 respectively. A similar increment has been approved by UGC for junior and senior Savitribai Jyotirao Phule fellowships for single girl child as well.
