“We are not walking away”: President Biden assures American families amid Hamas attack

United States President Joe Biden recently had conversations with the families of American citizens who are currently in Israel amidst the ongoing conflict involving the Hamas terror group. During these discussions, he assured the families that the government’s top priority is to bring these citizens back home, emphasizing that the United States is fully committed to this mission and will not abandon it.

In a message posted on a platform (formerly Twitter), President Biden stated, “The families of unaccounted-for Americans following the terrorist attack in Israel are facing unimaginable challenges. I made a promise to them: We will not turn our backs on them.”

While speaking with the families, President Biden reiterated, “There is no higher priority than this. I understand that others may attempt to convey what it’s like, but from personal experience, there is nothing more distressing than not knowing the fate of someone you love deeply.” He further emphasized the significance of this mission to him and to the American people, assuring, “We will not walk away. I give you my word.”

Earlier, President Biden condemned the use of innocent Palestinian families as human shields by Hamas in their actions against Israel. He noted that the humanitarian crisis in Gaza is affecting innocent Palestinian families who are not associated with Hamas and expressed concern about them being used as human shields.

Since the outbreak of the conflict between Israel and Hamas on October 7, the United States has shown unwavering support for Israel and has dispatched Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin to Israel to reaffirm this commitment.

This conflict has led to a significant loss of lives and injuries, with over 1,300 casualties reported. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have also confirmed the captivity of more than 120 civilians in Gaza by the Hamas terrorist organization.
