Nepal’s Earthquake victim family to get Rs 200000 per person

The government has decided to provide Rs 200,000 per person who died due to the earthquake that struck Jajarkot on Friday night. Rekha Sharma, government spokesperson and Minister for Communications and Information Technology informed that in the meeting of the Council of Ministers held at Singha Durbar today morning decided on this effect. She said this assistance is the first phase of immediate relief.
The government is to provide free medical treatment to those injured in the earthquake. The work of search and rescue of those affected by the Jajarkot earthquake has reached its final this morning.

Similarly, the local, provincial and central governments are working together to ensure that the affected people are provided with immediate relief including medical treatment and daily essentials.

Efforts are underway to provide healthcare facilities to quake survivors. In Barekot, healthcare is being provided in the open with a 10-bed health facility as temporary arrangements for rendering services after its building was damaged by the disaster. 38 earthquake survivors were brought to Banke Hospital for treatment from Jajarkot and Rukum Paschim.

The earthquake has caused a lot of material damage in Jajarkot, 100 houses made from stone and mud lie flattened to the ground while 100 other houses are under high risk.

157 people have been confirmed dead with around 200 people injured in Jajarkot and Rukum West districts as a 6.4 magnitude earthquake with epicentre in Jajarkot hit the districts. There were six aftershocks in Jajarkot till Saturday afternoon.

The government has decided to provide Rs 50 million each to quake-hit Jajarkot and Rukum Paschim districts. The amount would be ensured through the central relief management fund.
