The Dubai Airshow witnessed a heart-stopping display as the Tejas, India’s advanced light combat aircraft, showcased its extraordinary capabilities, including the daring ‘Red Eye Turn’ manoeuvre that pushed both the aircraft and its pilot to endure a staggering negative 3.5g force.

Engineered as a lethal fighting machine, the Tejas combines relaxed static stability with a state-of-the-art Fly-By-Wire (FBW) system, rendering it highly agile and maneuverable. Capable of generating up to 8G and enduring negative forces up to 3.5G, the Tejas exhibited high rates of turn and climb, making it exceptionally effective in close combat scenarios. With its aerodynamically designed tailless compound Delta platform, the Tejas displayed remarkable maneuverability even at low speeds. Its high rate of turn capability, quick rolls in various configurations, and a high reserve of thrust with excellent vertical maneuvering capability were a testament to its prowess. Tejas successfully demonstrated Half Roll, Hesitation Roll, Snap Roll and the Half Cuban roll meticulously enthralling the audience.

Group Captain Karthikeya Singh the pilot behind the airborne spectacle, highlighted the meticulous preparation involved. “The aircraft undergoes thorough Flight servicing before taking flight. For display, it’s brought to the Operational Clean Configuration and adorned with Smoke winders,” he explained. The addition of Smoke winders, prepared under careful supervision of Engineering Officers, added a visually stunning element to the Tejas’ already awe-inspiring maneuvers.

As the Tejas taxied back amid thunderous applause, it not only showcased India’s aerospace advancements but left an indelible mark on the Dubai Airshow, solidifying its reputation as a symbol of innovation and prowess in the world of aviation.
