A severe cold wave has enveloped the northern regions of India, with minimum temperatures ranging between 4 to 8°C over the past 24 hours. The chilling weather is particularly noticeable across most parts of Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, and north Rajasthan.
Additionally, most part of Uttar Pradesh, south Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, and interior Odisha are experiencing temperatures within the range of 8-12°C. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) reported isolated pockets of cold wave conditions in Ludhiana and Adampur in Punjab on Friday.
On Friday, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh witnessed minimum temperatures ranging from 7 to 8°C across various stations. Notable readings include 7.6°C in Rewa, 7.2°C in Nowgong, and 8.0°C in Khandwa. Meanwhile, New Delhi’s Safdarjung recorded a minimum temperature of 6.2°C, and Haryana’s Hisar recorded 3.8°C.
Temperatures also dipped below 6°C in Punjab, with Ambala at 5.9°C, Ludhiana at 3.4°C, Patiala at 5.7°C, and Amritsar at 4.8°C.

The IMD anticipates the likelihood of dense to very dense fog in isolated pockets over Punjab, coupled with dense fog in isolated pockets over Haryana, north Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.
Northwest India, including the states of Punjab and Haryana, is anticipated to experience dense fog during the morning hours in the next 2-3 days, adding to the challenges posed by the ongoing cold wave.
