Delhi Airport issues advisory as visibility drops due to fog

A drop in visibility caused by heavy fog led to flight operations being affected at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi today. 

Passengers have been asked to keep in touch with their airline about flight delays and schedule changes.

The national capital on Monday woke up to an even colder morning accompanied by dense fog. As per IMD, the temperature in the national capital was recorded at 9.4 degrees Celsius.

In a statement shared on X, Delhi Airport stated, “While landings and take offs continue at Delhi Airport, flights that are not CAT III complaint may get affected. Passengers are requested to contact the airline concerned for updated flight information. Any inconvenience caused is deeply regretted.”

Similarly, flight operations at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad also got affected due to dense fog.

Entire north India is under the tight grip of the cold with the mercury hovering below 10 degrees Celsius across various states.

IMD said that recent satellite imagery predicted dense to very dense fog in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and east Uttar Pradesh from December 25-27. Dense fog was also predicted in parts of west Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Odisha on December 25.

Similar weather conditions are likely over parts of west Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on December 26.
