Delhi Traffic Advisory and Parking Regulations
As everybody is gearing up for New Year celebrations, the Delhi Police have issued a traffic advisory for the national capital. The advisory, released on Thursday, imposes specific restrictions in the Connaught Place area. Effective from 8 pm on December 31 until the conclusion of the festivities, vehicular traffic will be prohibited in the inner, middle, and outer circles of Connaught Place, except for vehicles with valid passes.
To ensure a smooth commute to New Delhi Railway Station, alternative routes have been designated, unaffected by the restrictions around Old Delhi Railway Station. Commuters can utilize routes such as Ram Manohar Lohiya Park Street, Mandir Marg, Rani Jhansi Road, Jhandewalan roundabout, and Deshbandhu Gupta Road.
Parking near Connaught Place will operate on a first-come-first-served basis. The police have issued a stern warning that improperly parked vehicles will be towed away and could face legal action.
Security Measures and Traffic Restrictions Across India
As the nation gears up for New Year celebrations, multiple cities, including Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi, and Lucknow, have imposed various restrictions, including Section 144, for a safe and secure transition into the New Year.
Mumbai Security Measures
Mumbai Police have implemented Section 144 in the city until January 18, with additional restrictions on the use of drones, remote-controlled microlight aircraft, para motors, paragliders, and hot air balloons over the city for the next 30 days. Approximately 2500 police personnel, including deputy commissioners, assistant commissioners, inspectors, and sub-inspectors, will be deployed to ensure the safety of citizens. Liquor shops are permitted to operate until 5 am on January 1, 2024, with police monitoring to prevent open alcohol consumption.
Bengaluru Traffic Restrictions
Bangalore Police are taking strong measures for New Year’s Eve, with strict checks on drunk driving, traffic limits in key spots like MG Road, Brigade Road, Residency Road, St Marks Road, and Church Street. Traffic will be restricted on December 31 and January 1 for public safety.
With these measures in place, authorities aim to ensure the security and convenience of the public during the high-traffic New Year period.
