International workshop on Autism assessment with focus on ISAA

The National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (Divyangjan), Secunderabad, is set to host a Two-Day International Workshop on the Indian Scale for Assessment of Autism (ISAA) at the Developmental Assessment and Intervention Center (DAIC), New Delhi, on December 11th and 12th, 2023.

Funded under the National Fund of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPWD), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India, this workshop is poised to attract a diverse gathering of professionals from both India and around the globe.

In this event, 82 participants from India and 18 participants from 9 countries, including the USA, UK, Germany, New Zealand, Kuwait, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Bangladesh and Bhutan, have already registered to partake in this enlightening gathering.

The primary objective of the workshop is to provide training to professionals in the effective utilization of the ISAA tool, a groundbreaking assessment method developed by the National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities. Recognized as one of the approved tests by the Government of India for autism assessment, ISAA is not only widely used by professionals within the country but has also gained popularity across the Asia Pacific Region.

As an open-source tool, ISAA empowers professionals to contribute to the well-being of individuals with autism. The workshop aims to foster a collaborative environment where participants can delve into the intricacies of the assessment tool and exchange insights on best practices.

The event holds particular significance as it marks a concerted effort towards fostering international collaboration in the field of autism assessment. With participants from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds, the workshop is expected to facilitate a rich exchange of ideas and methodologies.
