During the inauguration of the Uttarakhand Global Investors Summit on Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for adopting the principles of “Vocal for Local and Local for Global.”
Addressing the gathering, PM Modi highlighted the significant developments that have transpired in India over the past few years. He noted the transformative impact of government schemes, pulling over 13 crore people out of poverty within a span of just five years, which, in turn, stimulated economic growth. The prime minister underscored the swift progress of the country’s consumption-based economy and stressed the need to become advocates for local products while simultaneously engaging with the global market.
In the context of Uttarakhand, PM Modi pointed out the development in infrastructure that has created lucrative opportunities for investors. He mentioned the rapid progress in the construction of village roads and the upcoming reduction in travel time on the Delhi-Dehradun expressway to two hours. Additionally, he highlighted the strengthening of rail lines, presenting golden opportunities for potential investors. PM Modi emphasized the untapped potential in Uttarakhand, spanning nature, culture, heritage, Ayurveda, and Yoga.
The prime minister asserted that the third decade of the 21st century would be Uttarakhand’s decade, inviting everyone to participate in the state’s developmental journey. He envisioned India securing a position among the top three global economies during his third term as the prime minister.
Before inaugurating the summit, PM Modi conducted a roadshow in Dehradun and visited an exhibition at the venue. He shared his vision for the “Lakhpati Didi Abhiyan,” aiming to empower two crore rural women economically. Encouraging business leaders, he urged them to explore local products in the state and strengthen the local supply chain, reducing dependence on foreign countries.
Highlighting the potential for investment, PM Modi expressed that Uttarakhand’s land is poised to open numerous doors for investors. He praised the state for combining dignity and development, aligning with India’s commitment to both progress and heritage. Emphasizing the importance of stability in governance, he urged the business community to consider hosting weddings in India, suggesting a movement akin to “Wed in India” alongside the “Make in India” initiative.
