The Sahitya Akademi has unveiled the recipients of the annual Sahitya Akademi Awards for the year 2023. The awards, presented in 24 languages, encompass a diverse range of literary forms, recognizing outstanding contributions to poetry, novels, short stories, essays, and literary studies.
Chaired by Madhav Kaushik, President of Sahitya Akademi, the Executive Board approved the recommendations put forth by distinguished jury members in each of the 24 Indian languages. The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on March 12, 2024, at the Kamani Auditorium, Copernicus Marg, New Delhi.

These notable works were selected based on recommendations made by three-member juries in the respective languages. The Executive Board declared the awards based on unanimous selections or majority votes. Eligible works for consideration were those published between January 1, 2017, and December 31, 2021.
The Sahitya Akademi Awards, presented in the form of a casket containing an engraved copper plaque, a shawl, and a cash prize of Rs. 1,00,000/- each, will be presented to the recipients during the award presentation ceremony, further cementing their place in the pantheon of literary achievement.
