External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar today is set to co-chair the 6th India-Nigeria Joint Commission Meeting alongside his Nigerian counterpart, Yusuf Tuggar.
Dr. Jaishankar, who arrived in Lagos, Nigeria, yesterday, commenced his visit by chairing a meeting with Indian Ambassadors in West Africa. During this session, he took stock of regional relations and engaged in discussions on strategies to deepen the partnership between the nations.
Addressing the Indian community in Lagos, Dr. Jaishankar expressed gratitude for their enthusiastic welcome. He shared insights into India’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, economic recovery efforts, initiatives for ease of living, space achievements, and considerations for the diaspora. The External Affairs Minister underscored the government’s appreciation for the “living bridge” connecting India to the global community.
Further during his visit, Dr. Jaishankar met with representatives of the Overseas Friends of BJP (OFBJP) in Lagos, encouraging them to continue their commendable efforts.
Engaging with prominent business leaders, the External Affairs Minister emphasized the value of their insights ahead of the Joint Commission Meeting scheduled for today.
