Government honors farmers at 75th Republic Day Parade Celebrations

75th Republic Day Parade unfolded at Kartavya Path, Delhi, becoming a beacon of the nation’s progress and unity. The Government of India, extending a special gesture, invited over 15,000 individuals from diverse sectors to witness the momentous parade.

This year, a significant addition to the esteemed guest list included over 1500 farmers, beneficiaries of central government schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana. The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (MoA&FW) facilitated a 2-day program and training for these special invitees on January 25th and 26th, 2024.

To enrich the farmers’ experience, a comprehensive training session covered key government schemes and initiatives, including the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund, Per Drop More Crop, and PMFBY. A field visit to the renowned fields of PUSA Campus on January 25th set the stage for a deeper understanding of agricultural practices.

The program commenced with an inaugural ceremony graced by Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Tribal Affairs, Arjun Munda, joined by MoS Sushri Shobha Karandlaje. Dignitaries highlighted the context of the training session and the government’s commitment to the economic well-being and welfare of farmers.

On January 26th, the special invitees witnessed the spectacular parade at Kartavya Path. Post-parade, Union Minister Arjun Munda engaged in an interactive session with the farmers at PUSA, joined by Ministers of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Sushri Shobha Karandlaje, and Shri Kailash Choudhary, along with other key officials.

Addressing the gathering, Union Minister Arjun Munda emphasized the pivotal role farmers play in shaping the nation. He highlighted key achievements, including a fivefold increase in the agriculture budget, record-breaking food grain and horticulture production, and significant MSP hikes. Government initiatives such as PM-KISAN, PMFBY, and schemes promoting organic farming underscored the unwavering commitment to farmers’ welfare. The Minister also spotlighted efforts in credit accessibility, the Soil Health Card Scheme, and Natural Farming, showcasing remarkable strides in enhancing the agricultural landscape.
