The National Convenor of the Jammu and Kashmir Students Association, Nasir Khuchami, has expressed gratitude to External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar for expeditiously facilitating the repatriation of the mortal remains of Kashmiri medical student Mohammad Arsalan from Iran.
Arsalan, a medical student in Kanjawal, Iran, succumbed to a cardiac arrest, prompting swift action by Indian authorities to bring his body back to his hometown Sopore in the Baramulla District of Jammu and Kashmir.
In a letter of appreciation sent on Monday, the association commended the efficiency and responsiveness of the Ministry of External Affairs, highlighting the seamless and well-coordinated effort demonstrated throughout the repatriation process.
The letter specifically recognized the proactive engagement and compassionate handling of the matter by Indian embassy officials in Tehran, mentioning Secretary Consular Harendra Singh and Under Secretary Arun Kumar.
The successful repatriation took place via a Mahan Air flight on January 19. The process involved collaboration between Jaishankar, the consular wing of the Embassy in Tehran, students, Iranian authorities, and educational institute officials.
The letter underscored the seamless coordination from initial communication to the final repatriation, showcasing the dedication of the Ministry of External Affairs. After necessary post-mortem and formalities, Arsalan’s body was respectfully brought back to India, reaching Srinagar and eventually his native village in Sopore, Kashmir.
