Residents of Northern India experienced travel disruptions as dense fog and low temperatures led to delays in flights and trains on Saturday morning. New Delhi, recorded a minimum temperature of 8.5 degrees Celsius, with predictions of dense fog persisting on January 22 and January 23.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) reported visibility of 1100 meters at IGI Palam Airport, while several other areas in Northern India, including Ambala, Hissar, and Safdarjung in Delhi, faced low visibility conditions, impacting transportation services.

Approximately 11 trains to Delhi from various regions, such as Khajaraho-Kurushetra Express, Ambedkarnagar-Katra, and Vasco-Nizamuddin Express, experienced delays due to the dense fog.

In New Delhi, passengers at Indira Gandhi International Airport faced delays and cancellations of some flights due to poor visibility caused by foggy conditions.

Despite the IMD stating that no dense fog was reported overnight at IGI, challenges persist in certain areas, affecting commuters and travel plans. The weather agency predicts dense fog on January 22 and 23 in the National Capital, with temperatures ranging from 6 to 20 degrees Celsius until January 25.

SpiceJet airlines issued an advisory, notifying passengers that flight services in Dharmashala and Jammu might be affected due to poor visibility amid cold conditions.

The disruptions in train and air travel highlight the impact of winter weather conditions on transportation services in Northern India. Passengers are advised to check their flight statuses and remain updated on any changes in the schedule. The situation underscores the need for caution and preparedness during the winter season to minimize inconvenience to travelers.
