A plane headed for Moscow crashed in Afghanistan on Sunday, sparking rumours that it was an Indian carrier. However, The Ministry of Civil Aviation has confirmed that the plane in question is not Indian.
Initially, the local Afghan media misreported the crashed plane as Indian, prompting a swift clarification from the Indian government that the crashed plane is a Moroccan-registered DF 10 aircraft.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation took to X to state, “The unfortunate plane crash in Afghanistan is neither an Indian Scheduled Aircraft nor a Non-Scheduled (NSOP)/Charter aircraft. It is a Moroccan registered small aircraft.”
The crash occurred in Badakhshan province, bordering China, Tajikistan, and Pakistan. However, the exact crash site remains unknown, with reports suggesting challenges in the ongoing search efforts.
More details about the crash are awaited.
