In a recent video message, Prime Minister Narendra Modi revealed significant advancements in healthcare across India. Over the past nine years, approximately 30 new cancer hospitals have been inaugurated, and the construction of an additional 10 is currently in progress.

During the foundation stone laying ceremony of Shri Khodaldham Trust-Cancer Hospital in Gujarat, PM Modi stressed the crucial link between the nation’s development and the health of its citizens. He underscored the government’s commitment to addressing healthcare challenges, particularly for the economically disadvantaged, through initiatives like the Ayushman Bharat Yojana. This scheme has successfully provided treatment to over 6 crore people.

PM Modi commended the healthcare progress in Gujarat, emphasizing the state’s transformation into a significant medical hub within India. Notably, the state has witnessed remarkable growth in the healthcare sector over the last two decades. In 2002, Gujarat had only 11 medical colleges, a number that has now surged to 40. The availability of MBBS seats in the state has also seen a nearly fivefold increase in the last 20 years.

These developments highlight the government’s commitment to enhancing healthcare infrastructure, ensuring better accessibility, and ultimately contributing to the overall well-being of the nation.
