PM Modi unveils rooftop solar scheme after Ram temple inauguration

Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the ‘Pradhanmantri Suryodaya Yojana’ on Monday, marking his first decision following the inauguration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. The initiative aims to harness solar energy for electricity generation across the nation.

In a social media post on platform X, PM Modi expressed the inspiration drawn from the consecration ceremony in Ayodhya and the universal energy symbolized by Lord Shri Ram. He emphasized the vision for every Indian household to possess its own solar rooftop system.

“The first decision I have taken after returning from Ayodhya is that our government will launch “Pradhanmantri Suryodaya Yojana” with the target of installing rooftop solar on 1 crore houses. This will not only reduce the electricity bill of the poor and middle class but will also make India self-reliant in the energy sector,” PM Modi said.

Accompanying his announcement were images of PM Modi in discussions with officials about the newly introduced scheme.

Solar energy assumes a crucial role in India’s ambitious goal of generating 500 GW of renewable energy by 2030, addressing climate change challenges and reducing dependence on fossil fuels.

Rooftop solar energy holds immense potential for consumers, promising a significant reduction in power costs and an enhanced level of energy security. It can revolutionize access to electricity, particularly in remote and hilly regions like the Northeast, where a consistent power supply from the grid remains a challenge.
