During his visit to Maharashtra on Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi handed over the keys to 15,000 homes to beneficiaries of the PM Awas Yojana (Urban) in Solapur district. Additionally, he dedicated over 90,000 houses completed under PMAY-Urban in Maharashtra.

Situated in the Raynagar Housing Society, these affordable accommodations are earmarked for individuals employed in various unorganized sectors, including handloom workers, vendors, and construction workers.

In a significant move, PM Modi distributed the 1st and 2nd installments of PM-SVANIDHI to 10,000 beneficiaries in Maharashtra. PM SVANidhi, a central sector scheme launched by the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, provides a working capital loan of up to Rs 10,000 to street vendors to establish their businesses.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for several development projects, including eight AMRUT (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation) projects worth approximately Rs 2,000 crore in the state.

Addressing the gathering in Solapur, PM Modi underscored the significance of the occasion, characterizing it as the inauguration of the largest society under the PM Awas Yojna. He expressed immense satisfaction that the dreams of thousands of families were coming to fruition.

PM Modi assured the recipients of the new homes that the cycle of suffering due to homelessness would now be broken, heralding a better future for generations to come. He mentioned the upcoming event of lighting the ‘Ram Jyoti’ on January 22, symbolizing the inspiration to overcome the darkness of poverty.

The Prime Minister extended his prayers for the prosperity and happiness of the families receiving new homes. Reiterating the government’s commitment to good governance, he emphasized the ideals of Shri Ram and the principles of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, and Sabka Prayas. PM Modi reflected on the government’s focus on the welfare of the poor, recalling past times when dignity was compromised due to the lack of basic amenities.

He highlighted the government’s mission to address housing and toilet issues, aiming to provide 10 crore ‘Izzat Ghar’ and 4 crore pucca houses in a mission mode. PM Modi clarified that the government’s path is centered on the ‘dignity of labor,’ ‘self-reliant worker,’ and ‘welfare of the poor.’ He assured the people that the government is working towards providing affordable urban houses and fair rent societies for migrant laborers, intending to offer residences near their workplaces.
