Prime Minister Narendra Modi graced the Pran Pratishtha ceremony of Ramlalla at the newly-constructed Ram Janmbhoomi Mandir in Ayodhya on Monday.

Prime Minister Modi, who arrived in Ayodhya earlier in the day, expressed the emotional significance of the event in a tweet, stating, “The divine moment of Pran Prathishta of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya Dham is an emotional moment for everyone. It is my good fortune to be part of this unique programme. Jai Siyaram.”

The ceremony, attended by over 8,000 guests, witnessed the presence of eminent personalities, including RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Representatives from diverse spiritual and religious sects, as well as individuals from various tribal communities, added to the diverse gathering.

The Prime Minister took the opportunity to interact with the shramjeevis (laborers) associated with the construction of the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Mandir, recognizing their significant contribution to the monumental project.

The Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Mandir, constructed in the traditional Nagara style, stands as a magnificent testament to India’s rich cultural heritage. The temple spans 380 feet in length (east-west), 250 feet in width, and reaches a height of 161 feet, supported by 392 pillars and adorned with 44 doors. The intricately sculpted depictions of Hindu deities, gods, and goddesses on the pillars and walls add to the artistic grandeur of the temple.

The main sanctum sanctorum on the ground floor houses the idol of Shri Ramlalla, depicting the childhood form of Bhagwan Shri Ram. The entrance to the Mandir, situated on the eastern side, is accessed through the Singh Dwar, consisting of 32 stairs.

The Mandir complex features five Mandaps (Halls) – Nritya Mandap, Rang Mandap, Sabha Mandap, Prathana Mandap, and Kirtan Mandap. A historic Well, known as Sita koop, dating back to ancient times, is located near the Mandir. In the southwestern part of the complex, at Kuber Tila, the ancient Mandir of Bhagwan Shiv has been meticulously restored, accompanied by the installation of a statue of Jatayu.

The construction of the Mandir showcases traditional and indigenous technology, with the foundation made of a 14-meter-thick layer of roller-compacted concrete (RCC), giving it an appearance of artificial rock. Notably, no iron has been used in the Mandir’s construction. The 21-foot-high plinth, constructed using granite, safeguards against ground moisture.

The Mandir complex is equipped with essential infrastructure, including a sewage treatment plant, water treatment plant, water supply for fire safety, and an independent power station. The Pran Pratishtha ceremony marks the culmination of a longstanding cultural and religious aspiration, as the Ram Janmbhoomi Mandir becomes a symbol of India’s timeless heritage and spirituality.
