In the final stages of his spiritual quest leading up to the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony for Shri Ram Lalla in Ayodhya, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the sacred Arichal Munai in Tamil Nadu’s Dhanushkodi on Sunday. Arichal Munai is believed to be the point from which the Ram Setu was built.
Later in the day, PM Modi offered prayers at Kothandaramaswamy Temple in Tamil Nadu’s Rameshwaram.
The name Kothandarama means Rama with the bow, and it is situated in Dhanushkodi. According to popular belief, this is where Ravana’s brother Vibhishana first met Lord Ram and sought refuge. Legends and ancient scriptures also mention that it was at this place where Lord Ram conducted the coronation of Vibhishana.
The Prime Minister on Saturday also visited Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple in Tiruchirappalli and Sri Arulmigu Ramanathaswamy Temple in Rameswaram.
“Will never forget yesterday’s visit to the Arulmigu Ramanathaswamy Temple. There is timeless devotion in every part of the Temple,” PM Modi posted from his official X handle.
Previously, the Prime Minister announced a 11-day ‘Anushtaan’ and undertook a pilgrimage to various shrines associated with Lord Ram across the country, including Nasik, Lepakshi, Puttaparthi, Guruvayur, and Triprayar Shree Ramaswami Temple in Kerala.
In addition to showcasing his spiritual side, PM Modi initiated the Swachh Teerth initiative, symbolizing cleanliness and participated actively by cleaning the premises of Shree Kalaram Temple in Nasik on January 12.
The ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony for Shri Ram Lalla at Ayodhya’s temple is scheduled for Monday, January 22, with rituals commencing on January 16. Dignitaries and people from diverse backgrounds are expected to participate in this grand occasion.
