Following the consecration ceremony, also referred to as Pran Pratishtha, of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday conveyed heartfelt congratulations to the nation and declared, “Ram Lalla will no longer reside in a tent.”
The unveiling of the idol, representing Ram as a five-year-old child, was a significant moment, with PM Modi leading the rituals at the Pran Pratishtha ceremony.
Addressing a gathering of 8,000 guests, including politicians, businessmen, sports, and film stars, PM Modi emphasized that the temple symbolizes the culmination of a long-held aspiration of Hindus. He also described the moment as not just “vijay (victory)” but also “vinay (humility)” and invited those who had opposed the Ram temple to experience the feeling.
Expressing gratitude to the kar sewaks and saints who struggled for the temple, PM Modi said that the future of the country would be “more beautiful than its past.”
During the ceremony, PM Modi performed ‘parikrama’ of the deity and offered ‘dandavat pranam,’ seeking blessings from the revered ‘sadhus’ present. The presence of RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath added to the spiritual grace of the event.
The temple, constructed in the traditional Nagara style, stands as a marvel with dimensions of 380 feet in length (east-west), 250 feet in width, and a towering height of 161 feet. Supported by 392 pillars and adorned with 44 doors, the temple’s pillars and walls showcase intricately sculpted depictions of Hindu deities, adding to its artistic grandeur.
