40,000 rail bogies to meet Vande Bharat standards

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman unveiled key initiatives for railway development during the presentation of the Interim Budget 2024-25. In a bid to enhance passenger safety and comfort, Sitharaman announced the conversion of 40,000 normal rail bogies to Vande Bharat Standards.

Addressing the Parliament, Sitharaman emphasized the importance of three major economic railway corridor programs, which include energy, mineral, and cement corridors, port connectivity corridors, and high traffic density corridors. These initiatives are aimed at boosting economic growth and reducing logistic costs.

The Finance Minister expressed confidence in the BJP government’s continuation in power after the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, promising a detailed roadmap for Viksit Bharat in the full budget scheduled for July.

Sitharaman highlighted the positive transformation of the Indian economy over the past decade and reiterated the government’s commitment to inclusive development under the vision of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, and Sabka Vishwas.”

Despite challenges posed by the pandemic, Sitharaman commended India’s resilience and determination towards building an Atmanirbhar Bharat and fostering inclusive growth. She emphasized the government’s focus on prioritizing the welfare of the poor, women, youth, and farmers.

The Finance Minister concluded the budget presentation with optimism about India’s economic trajectory and its potential for continued growth and development.
