Additionally, Mahmud held discussions with National Security Adviser Ajit Doval to explore regional cooperation for security and stability.

On a three-day visit to India, Mahmud expressed appreciation for the invitation, marking his first foreign trip since assuming office. He commended the robust bilateral relationship between Bangladesh and India, crediting the leadership of Prime Ministers Sheikh Hasina and Narendra Modi.

Highlighting the progress in bilateral ties, Mahmud said, “Under the leadership of PM Hasina and PM Modi, our relationship has strengthened, bringing economic and social benefits to our region.” He thanked India for its support of Bangladesh’s democratic processes and efforts to safeguard democracy.

On Wednesday, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar engaged in comprehensive discussions with Mahmud on various facets of bilateral relations, including defence, economic cooperation, and people-to-people exchanges.
