In a virtual meeting held on Monday, the first day of the Education Working Group (EdWG) under the Brazilian G20 Presidency, the Indian delegation reiterated the government’s dedication to advancing the global education agenda. Emphasizing the significance of capacity building for educational professionals, the delegation focused on innovative teaching-learning processes and emerging trends, aiming to make tech-enabled learning more inclusive and collaborative at every level.
The Indian delegation highlighted the pivotal role of education in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly through the Lifestyle for Environment (LiFE) initiative. This initiative underscores the importance of integrating environmental considerations into educational practices.
Addressing the priorities set by Brazil for the EdWG, the Indian delegation, comprised of senior Ministry officials, shared insights into India’s best practices aligned with the National Education Policy 2020. These initiatives encompass a range of programs such as SWAYAM, SWAYAM PRABHA, Academic Bank of Credit, SAMARTH, National Professional Standards for Teachers, 4-year Integrated Teacher Education Programme, DIKSHA, NISHTHA, Malviya Mission Teacher Training Programme, National Mission for Mentoring, and industry collaborations for training courses in emerging technologies.
Brazil’s focus for the EdWG includes three main priorities: valuing and building the capacity of education professionals, connecting managers of digital resource platforms for the sharing of educational material on Sustainable Development, and the G20 Award for School-Community Engagement.
The ongoing discussions in the EdWG aim to collectively address the first priority of building capacity for education professionals. The agenda of Tuesday will center around the second and third priorities: digital resource platforms and the prestigious G20 Award for School-Community Engagement.
