External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in Delhi on Wednesday. Mitsotakis, who arrived in Delhi on Tuesday, is the first head of state from Greece to visit India in 15 years.
In a post on X, Jaishankar highlighted the significance of strengthening ties between India and Greece. “Delighted to call on Prime Minister @kmitsotakis of Greece today. Valued his commitment to enhancing India-Greece ties. Look forward to the strengthening of our strategic partnership,” he said.
Mitsotakis is attending the Raisina Dialogue 2024, scheduled from February 21-23, as the chief guest and keynote speaker. Earlier, Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis, also participating in the Raisina Dialogue, discussed enhancing cooperation between India and Greece, as well as India-Europe ties, with Jaishankar.
During his visit, Mitsotakis will hold talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Relations between India and Greece were upgraded to a ‘Strategic Partnership’ during PM Modi’s visit to Greece in August 2023. Mitsotakis will also visit Mumbai before returning to Athens.
