Fresh wet spell likely over northwest India between 3 to 5 February

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday forecast fresh rain over northwest India during 3 to 5 February, an effect of a fresh western disturbance. The IMD reported a cyclonic circulation lying over east Assam and the neighbourhood in lower tropospheric levels.

Under the influence of these systems, Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are likely to receive light/ moderate scattered to fairly widespread rainfall/ snowfall during 3 to 5 February, 2024.

Meanwhile, on 3 and 4 February, light/ moderate scattered to fairly widespread rainfall very likely over Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana, Delhi and Rajasthan and over Uttar Pradesh on 4 and 5 February.

Furthermore, isolated heavy rainfall/ snowfall is also likely over Jammu, Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh on 4 February. The weather agency also predicted isolated hailstorm over Jammu, Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan and north Madhya
Pradesh on 4 February and over West Rajasthan on 3 and 4 February.

Northeastern state of Arunachal Pradesh is also likely to receive heavy rainfall/snowfall on 2 February and isolated hailstorm over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on 2 February.
