Global leaders gather in Delhi for Raisina Dialogue 2024

The ninth edition of the Raisina Dialogue, an annual conference on geopolitics and geoeconomics hosted by the New Delhi-based Observer Research Foundation and the Ministry of External Affairs, is set to commence in the national capital on Feb 21.

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the chief guest and keynote speaker for the event, along with Sweden’s Foreign Minister Tobias Billstrom and Latvia’s Foreign Minister Krisjanis Karins, have arrived in Delhi to participate in the three-day event, concluding on February 23.

The conference will bring together ministers, national security advisors, senior officials, and representatives from industry, technology, finance, and various sectors from over 100 nations.

Themed “Chaturanga: Conflict I Contest I Cooperation I Create,” the Raisina Dialogue will address critical issues under six categories: Tech Frontiers: Regulations & Realities; Peace with the Planet: Invest & Innovate; War & Peace: Armouries & Asymmetries; Decolonising Multilateralism: Institutions & Inclusion; The Post-2030 Agenda: People & Progress; and Defending Democracy: Society & Sovereignty.

The Raisina Dialogue 2023 was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with Italian PM Giorgia Meloni as the chief guest. The event drew over 2500 delegates from more than 100 countries, including ministers, former heads of state and government, military commanders, industry leaders, technology experts, academics, journalists, scholars on strategic affairs, and youth.

The theme for the 2023 edition was “Provocation, Uncertainty, Turbulence: Lighthouse in the Tempest?” with five thematic pillars: Neo Insurgence: Geographies, Domains, Ambitions; Amoral Mosaic: Contest, Cooperate or Cancel; Chaotic Codes: Sovereignty, Security, Society; Pernicious Passports: Climate, Commons, Citizens; Grey Rhinos: Democracies, Dependencies, and Debt Traps.

The Raisina Dialogue 2024 coincides with the G-20 Foreign Ministers Meeting hosted by Brazil on February 21-22. While External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will participate in the conference in Delhi, Minister of State for External Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs V. Muraleedharan will represent India at the G20 meet in Rio de Janeiro.
