In a move to strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between ASEAN and India, ASEAN Secretary-General Dr. Kao Kim Hourn met with External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar in New Delhi on Monday.

During his visit, Dr. Hourn also delivered the Sapru House Lecture in the national capital, shedding light on the evolving regional architecture of the ASEAN-India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. He underscored the importance of trust in nurturing strong relations between India and ASEAN, echoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 12-point proposal as a robust framework for advancing bilateral cooperation. The proposal encompasses areas such as digital transformation and economic engagement.

Dr. Hourn, who commenced his five-day visit to India yesterday, is scheduled to visit the Mahabodhi Temple Complex in Gaya, Bihar, on Wednesday.

The Ministry of External Affairs emphasized the significance of engagement with ASEAN within the framework of India’s Act East policy, which marks its 10th year in 2024. The partnership also aligns with India’s vision for the broader Indo-Pacific region, emphasizing collaboration and cooperation for mutual benefit.
