India and Netherlands discuss bilateral defence cooperation

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh met with Netherlands Defence Minister Kajsa Ollongren on Friday in New Delhi to explore avenues for strengthening bilateral defence ties. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the Raisina Dialogue, focused on enhancing cooperation in maritime security and industrial collaboration between the two nations.

During the discussion, both ministers emphasized the importance of expanding defence cooperation, particularly in maritime and industrial domains. They highlighted the growing interaction between the Indian and Dutch Navies and expressed mutual interest in bolstering maritime security efforts in the Indian Ocean Region.

Defence Minister Singh proposed the integration of Indian vendors into the supply chains of Dutch Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). He underscored India’s vibrant innovation and industrial ecosystem, suggesting that leveraging Indian and Dutch synergies in skills, technology, and scale could lead to fruitful collaborations in various sectors, including high-tech industries such as semi-conductors and clean energy.
