The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is preparing to launch India’s latest weather satellite, the INSAT-3DS, using the GSLV-F14 rocket. Scheduled for liftoff on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, this marks the 16th flight of the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle.

The GSLV-F14 mission aims to deploy the INSAT-3DS satellite into a geosynchronous transfer orbit, bolstering India’s capabilities in meteorological observations. The satellite is equipped to provide advanced meteorological observations, monitor land and ocean surfaces for weather forecasting, and enhance disaster warning capabilities.

Once operational, the INSAT-3DS satellite will augment weather and climate monitoring services alongside the currently active INSAT-3D and INSAT-3DR satellites already in orbit.
