National Democracy Day is celebrated today on Falgun-7 in Nepal to commemorate the historic day on which Nepalis got freedom from the 104-year-long autocratic Rana regime in 2007 BS as a result of huge sacrifice.
President Ram Chandra Paudel has expressed the belief that democracy fosters national unity along with social justice, equality, social harmony and prosperity. Giving a message of best wishes on the occasion of the National Democracy Day, 2080 today, President Paudel viewed the federal democratic republic as the achievement of a seven-decade-long struggle Nepalis waged. On this occasion, he paid tribute to all known and unknown martyrs of various movements for the establishment of democracy in Nepal.
In a message today on the occasion of National Democracy Day, the Vice President recalled and expressed condolences to all the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the people’s movement, the Madhesh movement, the indigenous nationalities movement and others that happened in different stages of Nepal’s history for the cause of democracy.
