PM Modi celebrates Amul’s golden jubilee, pledges support for dairy sector

Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the Golden Jubilee celebration of the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) in Ahmedabad on Thursday.

Addressing a gathering of over 1.25 lakh farmers at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera, PM Modi lauded the milestone achievement and attributed Amul’s global success to the perseverance of cooperative societies and farmers. He hailed Amul as a symbol of trust, development, and public participation, noting its presence in over 50 countries worldwide and its extensive network of cooperative committees and farmers.

Emphasizing the pivotal role of women, PM Modi said they constitute 70% of the workforce in the dairy sector. He also outlined various government schemes aimed at empowering women in agriculture and entrepreneurship, including Mudra Yojana and the Namo Drone Didi Scheme.

Discussing rural development, PM Modi underscored the importance of water conservation and irrigation in Gujarat. He highlighted initiatives like Narmada water reaching drought-affected regions, which have led to improved agricultural practices and livelihoods.

PM Modi further elaborated on government efforts to modernize farming practices, promote sustainable energy solutions, and enhance the role of cooperative societies in economic growth. He announced plans for the Gobar Dhan Yojana, aimed at purchasing cow dung for biogas production, thus supporting the dairy sector’s sustainability.

Expressing confidence in Amul’s future, PM Modi encouraged the organization to aspire to become the world’s largest dairy company. He assured continued government support and pledged to stand by the federation’s endeavors.

PM Modi also toured an exhibition and unveiled the Golden Jubilee Coffee Table Book, which chronicles the federation’s remarkable journey.

The event was attended by dignitaries including Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Union Minister Parshottam Rupala, and GCMMF Chairman Shamal B Patel.
