Today, on the sidelines of the World Governments Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the President of Madagascar, Andry Rajoelina. This marks the first encounter between the two leaders, highlighting the importance of this diplomatic exchange. Both leaders acknowledged the historical ties and friendly relations between their nations, emphasizing the need to further strengthen bilateral cooperation.
During their discussion, Prime Minister Modi reiterated India’s commitment to enhancing the partnership with Madagascar, particularly through initiatives like Vision SAGAR – Security and Growth for All in the Region. Recognizing Madagascar as a fellow developing country in the Indian Ocean Region, India affirmed its support for Madagascar’s developmental endeavors. The leaders also expressed appreciation for the close collaboration between India and Madagascar in various international forums, including the United Nations, underscoring the shared interests and values between the two nations.
