PM Modi pays tribute to Jain Seer Acharya Vidyasagar Maharaj, hails enduring legacy

Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his condolences following the passing of Jain seer Acharya Vidyasagar Maharaj, who attained Samadhi. Describing the demise of Acharya Shri 108 Vidyasagar Ji Maharaj as an irreparable loss for the nation, PM Modi lauded the profound impact of the spiritual leader’s contributions to society.

“Acharya Ji’s valuable efforts for spiritual awakening among the people will always be remembered,” remarked the Prime Minister. He emphasized Acharya Shri 108 Vidyasagar Ji Maharaj’s lifelong dedication to poverty alleviation, healthcare, and education, underscoring his enduring legacy in shaping societal welfare.

Reflecting on a cherished encounter, PM Modi recalled his meeting with Acharya Shri 108 Vidyasagar Ji Maharaj at the Chandragiri Jain Temple in Chhattisgarh last year, emphasizing its indelible impression on him.

In a post on X, PM Modi extended his sympathies to the countless devotees of Acharya Shri 108 Vidhyasagar Ji Maharaj, affirming the seer’s lasting impact on future generations. He paid tribute to Acharya Ji’s multifaceted contributions, spanning spiritual enlightenment, poverty alleviation, healthcare, and education.

“I had the honor of receiving his blessings for years,” noted the Prime Minister. “I can never forget my visit to the Chandragiri Jain Mandir in Dongargarh, Chhattisgarh late last year,” he added, reminiscing about his time spent with Acharya Shri 108 Vidhyasagar Ji Maharaj and the blessings bestowed upon him during that poignant encounter.

Acharya Vidyasagar Maharaj dedicated his life to the study and practical application of Jain scriptures and philosophy.

Renowned for his mastery of Sanskrit, Prakrit, and other languages, he authored numerous insightful commentaries, poems, and spiritual treatises. Among his notable works within the Jain community are Niranjana Shataka, Bhavana Shataka, Parishah Jaya Shataka, Suniti Shataka, and Shramana Shataka.
