Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate two First Mile Connectivity Projects (FMC) led by Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited (CIL) under the Ministry of Coal, via a virtual ceremony on February 29.

Valued at Rs 1393.69 crore, the projects mark a major leap towards efficient, mechanized coal evacuation while prioritizing eco-friendly practices to mitigate carbon emissions.

The projects include the Jayant OCP CHP-SILO and the Dudhichua OCP CHP-SILO. The Jayant OCP CHP-SILO, constructed with an investment of Rs. 723.50 crore, has a capacity of 15 million tonnes per annum (MTPA). Similarly, the Dudhichua OCP CHP-SILO, with an investment of Rs. 670.19 crore, operates at a capacity of 10 million tonnes per annum (MTPA).

These initiatives are expected to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of coal evacuation processes, leading to a simultaneous reduction in transportation time and costs. The optimization of logistics and the resulting decrease in carbon emissions will not only boost overall productivity and profitability but also promote a more environmentally conscious approach to coal dispatch and distribution.
