Union Minister Sonowal inaugurates Rashtriya Arogya Mela

Union Minister of Ayush, Sarbanand Sonowal highlighted the rich legacy of Indian Traditional Medicine Systems during the inauguration of the National Arogya Fair.

The National Arogya Fair, taking place from February 1 to February 4, 2024, at Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi, serves as a dynamic convergence of India’s healing traditions. Encompassing Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy, the four-day event celebrates the nation’s diverse culture and historical legacy in healthcare.

The event, organized by Puran Chandra Gupta Smarak Trust in collaboration with the Ministry of Ayush, showcases diversity, innovation, and healthcare delivery in the Ayush sector. Sonowal emphasized the significance of the National Arogya Fair in propelling the Ayush sector forward and spreading the benefits of Indian traditional medicine through the ‘Har din Har Ghar Ayush’ campaign.

Sonowal highlighted the importance of the National Arogya Fair, stating that it plays a crucial role in propelling the Ayush sector forward. He highlighted the ‘Har din Har Ghar Ayush’ campaign, designed to bring the benefits of Indian traditional medicine systems to the people.

The Minister shared noteworthy achievements, mentioning that out of the targeted 12,500 Ayush Health and Wellness Centres, over 9,000 have already been established. He commended the Ministry of Ayush for its substantial successes in just over nine years since its establishment.

Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary of the Ministry of Ayush, likened Ayush to a flourishing tree supporting multiple medical systems. He spoke about ongoing efforts under the National Ayush Mission to expand Ayush services to every district in the country. Kotecha also expressed pride in the establishment of the Global Centre for Traditional Medicine in Jamnagar, Gujarat, by the World Health Organization, marking the first outpost of the United Nations in any developing country.

The fair aims to showcase the benefits and principles of Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy, creating awareness and encouraging the adoption of holistic health and wellness practices. It provides a platform for collaboration and knowledge sharing among practitioners, experts, and enthusiasts, offering space for businesses and vendors to promote products and services related to Ayush systems.
