The 12th edition of the MILAN naval exercise is set to commence in Visakhapatnam from February 19 to 27, with the participation of over 50 countries.
Under the theme “Forging Naval Alliances for a Secure Maritime Future,” the exercise aims to provide a vital platform for participating navies to collaborate and brainstorm ideas aimed at bolstering security on the high seas. The primary objective is to ensure the safety of maritime trade for the benefit of all stakeholders.
The Harbour Phase, scheduled from February 19 to 23, will witness a series of events including the International City Parade, International Maritime Seminar, Maritime Tech Expo, MILAN Village, Subject Matter Expert Exchange, and Table Top Exercise.
Transitioning to the Sea Phase, participating navies will engage in advanced air defence, anti-submarine, and anti-surface warfare drills. The activities will also include gunnery shoots targeting aerial and surface objects, alongside maneuvers and underway replenishment exercises.
The official press release highlights MILAN as an excellent opportunity for navies to not only foster friendship and strengthen relationships but also to enhance interoperability and exchange best practices. By boosting confidence and readiness to tackle common challenges together, this exercise aims to pave the way for future collaborative missions.
