In Bangladesh, World Unani Day was observed on Sunday at Hamdard University, Dhaka. World Unani day is celebrated on February 11 in the honour of a famous Indian Unani scholar Hakim Ajmal Khan marking his birth anniversary.
On the occasion, a discussion and a seminar were held at the auditorium of Hamdard University. The university invited the High Commissioner of Indian to Bangladesh Pranay Verma as a special guest for the event.
Speaking on the occasion, the High Commissioner highlighted the renewed focus on traditional medicine in today’s global discourse about holistic healthcare. Pranay Verma encouraged stronger partnership between India and Bangladesh in the area of traditional medicine, including under the aegis of WHO’s new Global Centre for Traditional Medicine being set up in India.
Scholars from the field of Unani and Ayurveda gave deep insight about the relevance and importance of traditional medicine in the contemporary era.
